I'd like some advice on what ring height I should be using for my new Savage 10FP. I'll be buying TPS rings, just haven't decided on which ones...

Equipment is as follows:

- Savage 10FP with HS Precision stock
- Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 mil-dot
- TPS 0 MOA base
- Eagle Stock Pack

Thanks,

Scott

Medium on mine with TPS rings. You might want a higher powered scope for that rig, the 10X is value but doesn't match the rifles capabilities.

Cheers

Thanks Rob.

I am on somewhat of a budget, and consider the 10x to be an interim solution. If I start shooting beyond 500 yards, I plan on getting something more suited to the task.

Your probably right about the low for the 10X Airborn 69, but the thing with the medium rings is, when you upgrade your optics, you can keep the rings if you stay with 1" tubes. Low rings and big scopes often won't work and when they do, you can't get a cap on the bell. With that 10X and those rings, there will be a significant gap under the bell but the Butler Creek flip-up, which will find its way on there sooner or later :D , will help.

This is all relative. It all depends on how you hold your cheek weld. I've seen people who need high rings for a 40mm objective just because of the way the rifle fits them. I find the low work well for me as my cheek weld is very tight to the stock. If you get a set of rings higher than what is comfortable just to save a little cost for a later scope change, your accuracy will suffer. Hell, TPS rings are $100, not that expensive in the world of percision rifles. Get what works the best now, shoot the rifle to your potential, and enjoy. As for 10X past 500m... I have no problems out to 1000m. I was hitting an IPSC target... sure it wasn't 1/2MOA but still had the desired effect :D

Thanks Skooch. I tend to prefer higher rings, but went with the mediums for now. Figured if I needed highs then the mediums would be easy to sell (easier than the highs).

Glad to hear 10x is good out to 1000 yards. Hopefully I will be too! ;)
