Ok so today at CQB the battery dies on my red dot. Just pull it off and use the iron sights right. Exactly except I haven't taken the time to sight them in yet. So now I want to take the time and would like to set up the red dot and the irons to co-witness properly. the red dot is an old Bushnell that I had, zero power with a 1 inch tube. The gun is a DMPS oracle. I have the rear sight mounted on the rail on the upper. It is a flip down style. And I have a gas block height front flip down sight mounted on the block. What make, model, height rings will get this done? Who sells them? I have a bunch of rings off of old hunting set ups but all are too low. Anyone been though this and can make it easy for me? Thanks in advance.

Well either no one knows or no one cares. For those that do.... I bought a set of Nikon AR style rings the type that are canted forward. Now the irons are in the middle of the red dot and if you have all sights on and up at the same time the red dot is sitting neatly on top of the front sight post. Now if the battery dies simply flip up the irons and continue to blast away. Note this set up is not intended to use both sights at the same time. That would be too busy and would slow you down or hurt accuracy for sure. It is an either or method only for when one or the other fails.

You need a one piece cantilever mount like a Burris PEPR. There are many other brands that do the same thing and they will cost you around $80 and go up to around $300 for the gucci brand ones.
I run the Burris PEPR mount on most of my AR's and black rifles. They are available in one inch or 30mm diameter to use with most optics that have a tube.

Might be easier and cheaper just to carry a spare battery or to take the five min needed to sight in your flip up sights.

The answer is 1.5"ish.

If you have an aimpoint, mounts come in co-witness and 1/3 co witness. Bushnell 1" tube is not usable with aimpoint rings, so it is hard to squeeze an answer out for you.
