What rings?

Weaver 3/8's Tip-Off rings. Make sure that you get ones with serrated edges to assist grabbing. Do not use any cheap 22 style rings, it'll cost you more in the long run.

The Weavers seem to work the best. Bearing in ming that only the front ring is secured for recoil by small stamped "steps", some rings will chew up the steps. I tried a set of Millets, and they just sheared the steps off - probably due to the rounded leading edge of the ring clamp. Weavers have a sharp, square leading edge.

That whole Weaver set up is a pretty good rig EXCEPT for the fact you need to use 22 rings on it!

Like, why no design it for standard Weaver style, cross slot rings.

I could not agree more. Why they designed it for tip off rings is beyond me.....

Are there any markings on that mount? What is the width at the top of the dovetail?

I have owned similar bases designed for the old Leupold Detacho rings that fit on a dovetail roughly the same width as the Parker Hale or Brno bases. (Narrower than a Weaver but wider than a "standard" .22 mount)
