What scope do you guys think I should run?

What price range should I be looking in Ult.Monkey to find some quality optics?

I'm totally green to "precision shooting", at least with a scope anyway!

Most guys I know are in the 2K range for optics...............Some are up in the 3K+ range with Schmidt and Bender PM-IIs.............

You bought one of the top 3 scopes for under $1000. Great buy and it has a lifetime warranty if there's an issue.

Good to know, I think it's a not bad deal anyway. 500 shipped, flip caps, level mounted on it, a few years old. Says it's in good shape.

I think it will work nice and fit my needs exactly.

Hope the Burris rings I have will fit the 50mm obj, was only planning on a 40, but looks like I should have enough room.

I have rem sps tac in 223 and like you have been shopping for a target/tac scope for it. What I've been waiting for is Leupold vx111 3.5 x10 target in excellent used condition to fall into my lap. I've seen them go for around 400 bucks and think that would be hard to beat it's good glass and good tracking scope in a fairly compact and light package. Right now I'm making do with a 3x9 vx11 in leupy rings and one piece base. With it I can still shoot .5 moa out to 300yds when the wind is not and I lay off those extra large regulars.

Sounds like a good idea, I'm looking forward to this one, always been a fan of high mag scopes but never owned a decent one.

Well scope showed up, very very nice shape. Happy with it, it's a lot more clear than the cheap optics I usually run.

How should I set it up as far as elevation goes. I have no MOA in the bases or burris rings so I guess just dial it in to what ever it zeros at and go from there eh?

Sight your rifle in at what ever distance you choose ,and that will be your "zero" from then on. 100 seems to be the standard , then just learn your come ups for different ranges ,
