Just picked up a little Henry lever and would like to get a scope for it. Looking for suggestions and pics.

Just worried it will look odd with a scope cause it's such a small gun. Also, which rings would be best?

I actually JUST mounted a lil Bushnell rimfire 3-9 on my Henry .22 with some no-name rings I had kicking around. No pics, but it worked like a hot damn when I tried it. These guns are surpisingly accurate. It is a PITA though trying to access the hammer with the scope on.

It does look quite goofy because of the size. I'll be taking it off as I prefer open sights on levers.

I have a Frontier model (octagon bbl) and considered mounting a fixed low powered scope to help my aging eyes.
I must admit I don't think it looks "right" to scope a lever and since my son shoots fine with the irons I'll probably leave it.
After all I did buy it for him to shoot;)

Btw...I considered mounting my Leupold 1-4x on the Henry but would probably need high rings to clear the hammer.

2x7 Bushnell on mine at the moment, I've have also tried a 1.5x5 on it as well. I'm using medium rings with a hammer extension.
I agree that a scoped lever just doesn't look 'right' and I hated to do it, but the aging eyes over-rule the big picture of what it looks like.

Hammer extentions are available. They can go to the right or left and will clear up your issues with getting at the hammer. They work really well and are cheap. Uncle Mike's and some other manufatures of bits and pieces make them.
