Hello, looking to scope my rem 700 BDL in 300 Weatherby.
Any suggestions as to something that will take the punishment of the 300 weatherby round.
Not looking for low end, but can't afford the top of the line either.
3-9x40 3.5-10x40 or 4-14x40
This will be my moose rifle.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Although I haven't bothered with chamberings heavier than 270, 30.06 class (as I don't believe more is necessary) I have Zeiss and Swarovski scopes that are good, under 1200.00.(this increases with higher magnification and bigger lenses) that I would be confident could handle the recoil. Those two fall into mid range price wise (Swarovski being a bit more expensive) This is just suggestions of what I have used, with the caveats listed and my opinion of what I would be confident using them on. By all means pay more attention to someone who regularly uses scopes on heavier calibers.

Moose tend to be taken in terrain similar to what the average whitetail deer is taken, therefore I would suggest you avoid higher magnification: If ever a moose decides to be aggressive, high magnification may lead to a very bad day as you frantically search out the boiler room in a lens full of brown fur - 10x maximum on a variable, maybe even 2-8x. Even if you have to take a long shot, 10x was more than many military snipers used on much smaller targets.

Rings, TPS HRT or TSR in steel...about $100.
Bases there are lots of options. Burris has a decent 2 piece steel weaver one for $30, or Leopold 2 piece for $40. I like 2 piece for hunting rigs for easier loading of blind mags, hinged floorplates. One piece steel I love Near manufacturing....

Anything from DNZ. They make awesome rings. I have the DNZ hunt masters on my mod 70 and a friend has the DNZ game reapers on his Tikka. Fit and finnish is super awesome. I called them directly and they had the product out the door that day. Took a week and a few days to get to Alberta.

Pick a good scope Zeiss, and pick some good rings and bases, Near manufacturing, Richard carries custom made rings and bases, for little more than the mass produced GOOD stuff. Oh ya he is a good old Canadian boy, who has many police and military customers. I bought from him based on recommendations from optics talk in the US.

I have that rifle & cal in the older version, all done in factory camo from the 80s. I have the Burris fullfield 3-9X40 in burris rings, everything works fine and the moose still don't like it. Point being most scopes will stand up to the recoil.
