After looking at scopes for a while to make an educated choice. I came up with those too. I want the FFP, in the 20x plus and around 1500$ or so. Christmas tree reticle and mils. Trying to match my shooting partners so it's easier to communicate. For some reason, lot of people getting rid of their Bushnell scopes. Now are Athlon a little better scopes than Bushnells if we look in the same price range? I'm leaning towards the Athlon because of the quantity of Bushnells compare to Athlon are for sale.

I haven't had the chance to look through some of the higher end Althalon Ares yet; there lower end stuff seems ok for the price so if they hold their quality I'm sure it would be good. The Bushnell ERS is an awesome scope for the money. I've become a huge high-end Bushnell fan in the last few years and was really happy with my SMRS, I just moved on from that project, and the optic no longer fit what I was doing. I think with Bushnell the main issue is they have revamped their entire line up and have some new interesting models out. The firearms community is bad for the new latest and greatest choice out there, so people tend to dump their older stuff for the new stuff. Doesn't mean its bad or an issue just means there something new. I think a lot of people hade the ERS and such because for a while it was the main options readily available on the market that was reasonably priced. Just my 2 cents!

I have a Ares BTR and I like it, the glass is by no means perfect but it does the job and is functional(unfair comparison to more expensive scopes here). I've been told the ETR is much better as far as glass quality goes. I'd say the BTR might have a touch nicer glass than the Bushnell but that might be in the eye of the beholder as well. I use mine frequently maxed out at longer ranges and it is usable. I had a Minox that was a great scope but at its max it was garbage. For all the features you get with the BTR though, its definitely worth the money. My only complaint is the clicks are a little mushy but apparently you can do a fix for that.

Athlon has recently updated the turrets on the Ares BTR and they are a marked improvement and "crisper" over the first Gen that several customers described as "mushy".

I'm curious which Minox you are describing as "at its max it was garbage".

Been running 2 Ares BTR on my PRS type rigs... centerfire and rimfire. They have both tracked reliably and consistently... return to zero is spot on.

Image quality is similar to other peer optics ... very useable and no issues to see and engage targets out to 1500yds.

Very nice reticle with the 0,2mil spacings.

The turrets clicks are ok but for me, really doesn't matter. I am not counting clicks.. takes too long. I am dialing to a number and the turrets are easy to read.

As an entry point into the PRS game, it offers all the features but for quite a bit less money... and works well enough to get on the podium
