I was wondering what kind of groups can I get out of a stock M-14 with hunting rounds? What should I do to make it one of my better hunting rifles, and how much would I have to send to get it there? That is with a scope base, stock, and maybe a trigger for starters. I'm planning on getting one this spring, and having it ready for next falls hunting season. I will be greatfull for any suggestions. :D

The best group? I've seen posts where it was grouping anywhere between 1-2 moa. My experience with Remington something corelockt was 2-2.5 moa @100m. Good enough for hunting ;)

Get a GOOD scope mount. Make sure you get a decent quality scope as well as the m14 will beat the hell out of scopes.

Get a recoil buffer to help the scope out a bit. Get a R33 cheekrest... My scope sits pretty high (prevents the shells dinging it) so a cheekrest helps out for sure. I managed to get a NM oprod guide in a trade and I think that helped my groupings but I have not had enough range time with it.

Your going to need a synthetic stock or wooden stock that isnt the norinco one. You could probably find this on the board.

I use mine for hunting and my only regret is having a cheap scope mount that I got from marstar. If I had the money I would splurge for a better mount but I need to buy a new computer first =)

I shoot about 1.5-2moa and use the federal ammo 165gr vitalshok when hunting.

Dont go over 168gr ammo unless you turn off the gas system.. it wont be a semiautomatic but then you are free to do whatever.

Get a good sling as it is a heavy best with a scopemount and scope on it!

!

The Norc op rod is one piece and forged. The NM oprod is two pieces and welded. Why would you change it? Other than the reciever its one of the pieces thats better than the USGI replacement. (I'm not familiar with the differences between the NM and the standard USGI rod, hence the question)

the nm oprod guide feeds the spring better then the rinco!
