ive been watching predator quest on wild tv. that guy uses shotguns on coyotes quite a bit. i was wondering what size shot guy's are using on yotes.

hmm, can't say for sure, but it seems to me it would cause quite a bit of pelt damage.

I think thats why most guys stick with the small cal rifles.

Good luck either way

Hello:

I believe that a lot of people who use a shotgun to hunt them use #4 buckshot. I believe that a 3" 12 gauge shell with #4 buckshot contains 41 pellets. Have a nice day.

hevi shot makes a shell that is filled with bismuth coyote stopper or something i believe its T i took one this turkey season using a 3.5 #6 turkey load this year

# 2 lead is absolute minimum size, BB or #4 buck are much better. I've killed coyotes with #6, #5, #4, but smaller shot than #2 will not always penetrate. Hevi shot does not load bismuth, they load hevi shot! I'd still stick with #2 minimum in that pellet material. Steel pellets would need to be pretty big, F or T before I'd consider using it.

#4 buck and yes you will be able to sell the pelts just fine as long as you don't shoot them from 10yards. The 4buck holes are .24cal and only take a stich or two to disapear.

thanks for youre replys guys. i will be using a .223 but my buddy wants to use his shotgun. only rifle he has is a .303. I'll tell him to use 3 inch BB's or #4 buckshot.
