Looking at a 700 ML Blu/Syn in 50 Cal. w/209 ingition. I love that big hole in the muzzle. Having no experience in muzzleloaders, but wanting to extend my deer hunting seasons on the Northern Bruce Peninsula (and now maybe even on Sundays if the season(s) is/are expanded to accommodate one or both on each end of the week), I was hoping for opinions on this as a first ML. Modern and familiar are what I like about it. I also like all the "easy" ways to load them now(sabots, jacketed bullets, powder pellets, etc). Not looking for nostalgia, but a good experience.

Thanx in advance

They are good shooters

but I would move on to a T/C Omega or Encore. If you want to try smokeless front loaders try a Savage.

The Remington 700 is dirty. Bottom Line. There is so much blowback from the nipple that it gets into the bolt and all over the scope. It eventually marks the scope up from the burning gases. When shooting at the range I put something on the underside of the scope to protect it from the gases.

Go to the link I have attached and see what they use to test there bullets with. There is also good info on the site. I asked them a while back why they never used a Rem 700 ML in there testing and the response was that they only test with what is felt to be the best and with what the consumer is buying. That was about 4 years ago.

I have owned a model 700 muzzleloader and didn't like it at all.The clean up was a hassle. If I was to buy another muzzleloader it woud be the savage since you can use smokeless powder.
