I too have a 60CSX (my 3rd GPS) and consider it able to do everything I will ever need for hunting, hiking, canoeing, and even an awful lot of what I may need navigating in cities although I use a car unit for street navigation. Have a look at the features of that unit, and you will have a good idea of what a very useful GPS can do. I do NOT need an MP3 player, or games, or some of the features on others I have seen.
GPS is a marvelous tool for freeing up your ability to range far in the bush. It is NOT a substitute for a good map and compass and the skills to use them. In fact I think a good GPS must always be accompanied by maps and compass if you are in real wilderness. A good unit will save you miles of walking, and help with all sorts of things you didn't imagine at first (like marking a kill and getting a vehicle to it from a completely different direction, for example) but a GPS can also fail in an instant. The earth's magnetic field is pretty reliable. It is vital that you know the traditional navigation skills, and have the tools to use those skills, before you trust your life to an electronic device. People die if they are too stupid to understand just how stupid a computer can be.
But they are REALLY cool!
