What sights on your Norc 1911-A1?

Just as the title says. What sights have you out on your Norc 1911. Just got mine from the $299 sale and the sights are horrid. Any advice?

i saw one of them at a gun show the other day, and I thought they were ok for military sights. Low profile, but pretty sharp and with the 3-dots. Yours the same? This was one of the unmarked 1911A1 guns too so I assume so.

Yes. Same. But I'm not a fan of the sights. Too low n too small and I'm still young

Novak Competition sights - had them done when I got the gun, fantastic sight picture.

I thought that Norc sights were not a common cut type? If you wanted better sights you had to have the slide cut to fit standard types? No?

Rear is a standard Colt dovetail.

Front is standard narrow tenon Colt.

Or you can cut a front dovetail.

The govt model 1911-a1 non-Norc marked guns have a standard narrow tenon front and a standard 0.344x65degree rear GI dovetail

I used an MGW front ($10) and a 10-8 rear ($30). Both fit with minimal fitting.

Is the Tenon staked in place? How hard is the factory one to remove??

Mine was done by Rodger Kotanko. Milled in STI rear and Rodger's own FO front.

Just grab it with a pliers and twist. Comes right out.

I have to agree - when I got mine, these guns weren't available, if I was buying now this is the way I'd go

Bearing in mind that I am not handy and don't know much about modifications, but, is there such a thing as a no fitting, machining, or fiddling, drop in ambi-safety for use by south paws, for such a beast?

I would say there is a 80% chance of some minor fitting required for a safety...ambi or otherwise. Plus there are 2 types of ambi safeties, one has an arm that extends under the right hand grip which means new grips or some modding of the OEM grip. Other uses an extended hammer pin that dovetails into the right side safety arm and no grip mod required.
