My buddy has some on his property and doesnt want them bothering his animals so me and a buddy are going in as the clean up crew, its thick bush so shotgun is the only option, I was thinking number 4 shot, but would like some other opinions

Can you not bait/Decoy them into the open and blast them with a rifle @ a little distance????

if u think the coyotes are gona just let u walk up on them to get in shotgun distance im sorry your wrong. Ive hunted alot of coyote and there smarter than u may think.

The only time we had use for a shotgun was when we were bush pushing and there was a spot we knew they would have no other choice than to run down. As well we would use a 3" BB shot.

get ur self a 22-250 and your good from point blank to 500+m

The only time your ever gona stumble on top of one is when ur in the woods with out a gun.

Shotguns are used but are also imo a very pour choice for coyote hunting.

You'll never shoot a coyote with a shotgun unless you catch him by surprise. They are a very intelligent animal. If the bush is that thick, you might try a tree stand and bait. If that doesn't work, you could also try pushing them, and the guy at the end could possibly get a shot with a shotgun.

I've shot coyotes with my shotgun, and we've called coyotes in to 10 yards here this past winter. In fact i didn't take a shot at a coyote outside of 100 yards at all this season. As for shot I use #4 Buck.

the plan is to call with decoy, no intention of walking up on it. normally I go with buddies who have dogs, thats just a different style of taking them down, thats hard now with no snow.

thanks for the input guys

I'd use #BB or larger but I smoked a yote running with of all things a 3" #4 in a .410 at 20 yards and he was tits up!Shot several with #6 and a 20 ga no problems.......Harold
