Just pulled in to my dad's up just north of Sudbury.
Long trip, seems the older I become, the harder it is driving 3 kids 5.5 hours up here..
Just unloading my daughter, and I could hear the wolves howling, which is normal up here. He lives on a highway and there is bush right across the road from his house, has a 175 foot long driveway.
As I made a few trips to unpack the van, I kept hearing more and more unique sounds. Deep. Much too deep for a wolf to make. Was thinking moose at first, then bear, though I have not heard much about bears making sounds at 2 am - have never heard a bear sound period.
Decided to try and catch it on my phone, took a few but I did get some clear grunts between cars flying by on the hwy..
I'm going to link what I recorded, in the hopes someone can identify the culprit..
As I was out there longer and longer, they definitely got closer to me. The last sounds at 1:10 on the recording us very low, deep grunting for at least 5 seconds duration. Watch the ears at around 33 seconds, the first car is loud, and you can hear me smoking as well.
Definitely got louder, assumed they were moving a lot closer to me. When I went inside finally, they sounded like they were right across the road from me.

it's gotta be a sasquatch man.
leave a case of kokanee and a trail cam out there and see what shows up LOL

seriously tho...... moose maybe? it is that time of year .

Haha! Thats a moose!! I was sitting on the edge of a beaver pond one morning hunting ducks when a cow and bull came along one on each side of the pond calling to each other. It was an awesome experience. Neither ever showed themselves to me but they sure were moving at a good pace going by my blind as the sounds came together at the far end of the pond. Amazing how much volume there was too.
