What the he'll is a 223 Pax

I was out looking at some rifles at an auction and came across a Savage model 11 in 223 Pax. I looked up the calibre. There is nothing written about it anywhere.

Is this a joke? I know that Savage sold a limited number but I can't find the ammo anywhere.

Anyone know anything about the round or the gun? Maybe even the story of this 223 Pax?

I'll bet its some sort of branded chambering reamer like the 223 Wylde.

More than likely some sort of slight deviation from the SAAMI version.

I have a custom 223 reamer on order with a tight neck that I could give a name to, so I get a loaded OAL with 88 grain ELDs at 2.626".

How about I call it 223 Maple... there... now I'm famous.... but not quite as famous as PAX apparently.
