Hello people. I was shopping for my first black rifle for a while now. I hope I will be hunting this year with some descent piece that I enjoy shooting and having in my hands this season. But one thing is bothering me: I like more than one rifle, in fact I'd like to have them all eventually, its like beautiful woman - one is not enuff. Do they retain resale value after I am "done" with them? I hope I will not break 10K mark this year, but after that I hope to "cycle" whatever I have for other designs. Anybody does that? So far it appears to me my flying for a year costs me less than one descent rifle. How do you guys manage in such environment?

Like any other passion, you spend what you can afford. You can rent an old Piper Cub or buy a new Pilatus PC-12, but if you love flying you will budget whatever is within your means. With $10K you can either have lockers full of old single shot shotguns or a ten percent down payment on a new Purdey or Fabbri (or anything in between). Only you can decide the level of investment that satisfies your passion. The joy is in the process.

Value really is dependent on what you have. Rarer or very reputable guns such as the Robarms M96+XCR and Swiss arms rifles tend to have a resale value closer to their retail. An AR15 frankengun 9/10 is going to cost you much more than it's going to resell for.
I stopped worrying about the costs long ago. If I just have to have a gun, as long as the family is fed and the mortgage paid, I buy the bastard. Fortunately I am in a position in my life that this is possible.
If you are more financially constrained then buy and sell firearms. Doing this gives you a chance to own and shoot a certain firearm then deal it off towards the next "gotta have". Generally, you will never lose much if any money dealing in guns, in fact, sometimes, if you shop carefully you will come out ahead!

Stop flying.....buy guns...........
That is exactly what I did years ago...stopped flying because it was too hard on the gun budget!Besides, flying for me was just a means to an end anyway (to reach more distant shooting events).
Ya know what? I actually own a property with an aircraft hanger and a grass runway...
What do I do with it the hanger ????? Store my Jeep, and tools, and use the runway for dog training and the back 40 for SHOOTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLOL

Ugh, I can only imagine your gun budget.
I get annoyed with using over 20 rds to sight in a new scope.
