I am having trouble deciding what I should build next.
I have a weatherby mark V ultralight magnum action.(I don't have enough room for ultra mags)
I want to build something from a 25 cal to a 7mm.

I was looking tonight and was thinking about a nice montana action chambered in either .260 Remington or a 6.5x284 maybe even a .280 just for kicks. Just my two cents but i have a rifle planned out and an now trying to figure out a price.

depends on what you want to hunt. A 264 Win Mag would be a good long range gun for deer hunting. A 338 Win Mag or 358 Norma would be a real moose/bear stomper.

yes the 257 stw would fit. I am thinking on that one. I was talking to my gunsmith. he has built alot of them but the says if you fire more than around 20 shots without cleaning people are getting pressure spikes and blowing primers.

The regular STW works pretty good. Pretty much the same trajectories as your 30-378 but smaller bullets and way, way less recoil. Awsome long range deer zapper.

I would say the 264 Westerner...oh sorry Win Mag..hold on...same thing.. Stuff a 1:8 ROT 26" medium heavy barrel on there with 11 deg. target crown and launch VLD 140 grain bullets like a 139 Lapua Scenar or 140g A-max and your laughing. If your chambering yourself get it set back to headspace off the shoulder.

Well you've got the upper and lower ends covered, so I'd go with a .270 Weatherby or a 7mm Weatherby.

Or swap your action and go with a .280 rem.
