Hey fellas, I made a trade a few days ago and got a swedish mauser and a couple other things, the mauser was tossed in at the last minute to seal the deal. Bubba got to this one, the iron sights are welded on and was painted with krylon paint. Bolt and receiver numbers don't match. I was thinking of building a 250 savage out of it. What do fellas think, any other suggestions.

What do you need?
What do you want?
Is what you need and what you want compatible with that action?

Answer those questions and you'll come to the correct choice. That said a .250 Savage has a lot going for it.
 
i have a 308, 223, 6.5x55, 12ga. I was thinking of something that is not common in a bolt action like a 250 sav maybe a 300sav, but i might just sell it because my 6.5x55 will anything the 250 or 300 would do.

You can spend $1500 on a $200 rifle pretty quickly,...and, end up with a $500 dollar rifle even faster.


I'm probably not much help, but us realists have never been noted for joining a waning party...


PS....what will a 250 Salvage do that a 6.5 Swede won't?
 
What you do with that rifle is hold on to it; so when that annoying friend, who barrows everything, and respects nothing, asks to barrow your rifle, that's what he gets.
