What to buy Next

Hi,
I have just purchased my first M&P 15. I am in a bit of a quandry because I am not sure if I should purchase a Colt 15 22LR for plunking, or go with the bolt change out for my M&P 15. Cost is not a great considerdation (but some)I am looking more at the cost of rounds for each gun. Doing some chatting with the salesman from wholesale sports (Alberta) he says you will put alot of round through the more expencive M&P, it might be better to by a cheaper colt 15 22lr and save the inner workings of my M&P for the compitition shooting?

The M&P bolt changeout is about 220 at ablerta tactical
The Colt is 780 at wholsale sports. So about 560 differance. My question is it worth the extra cost to save my M&P??

Bolt for sure...those Umarex colts are junk.

I would guess you could probably put a million rounds of .22lr through an AR without doing anything more than cleaning it and changing out springs from time to time and never hurt the thing.

That is what I was hoping to hear. I just do not want to burn out my new $2k M&P faster when using alot of 22lr rounds. And I thought maybe a cheaper ar 15-22lr might be the way to go.

That is a great question. Thtat was my other option to look at. I was talking to the salesman about that. I got about 700 buck to spend. But what is cheaper buying bulk or purchasing a reload equipment?

For $700 you might get a couple thousand rounds of MFS .223. A hungry AR can go through that pretty quickly.

If I were you, I'd spend the money on a reloading kit and learn to tailor your loads to your rifle. $700 will buy you a pretty decent reloading setup.

You got me convinced to looking into reloading. I am going to wholsale sports to lood at some Nooobee books. I have looked on the recomended names on the reload form and that is where I am going to start.

Reloading is always good to get into but how about a 22LR upper? I would think a dedicated upper would be better than a BCG and thet only cost $400.00.

Im not sure what you mean by that but stay away from Wholesale sports, especially for anything AR.

I seriously doubt you will burn out your M&P shooting 22lr through it. Thousands of 22lr through your rifle will not do anything to it.
