what to buy???

To make a long story short, i just got married and ended up with some cash to buy me something and that something is gonna b a rifle!!! Any suggestions, i'll b hunting whitetails in nova scotia and probally coyotes too, i have the classic 30-30 and also my wsm so i'd like something inbetween, something to reach out and touch something that is light, durable and low recoil for the kids, any thoughts????

I don't know NS laws in regarding caliber for big game hunting, in Alberta you can't hunt large game with .22 caliber and under. For deer and yotes .243 is a good choice, I've used mine on moose with no issues.

Yup same as AB, I like the options for a .243 or.270 everybody and their dog makes rifles chambered in those calibers

X2........it is the most impressive cartridge between 22 and 28, bar none. For a real close second I love the 264 WM as well.

.270....can handle from varmint to moose without a worry. Ammo can just about be found in any corner gas station . Only need changes in bullet weight for different quarry.

.243... ammo is everywhere more or less, light recoil, the wife and kids can pull the trigger without feeling alot of recoil. Just my two cents....

I have both smaller & larger calibers at hand, but my go to favourite for both deer & coyotes is a Remington 700 Mountain in .257 Roberts closely followed by a Remington 700 CDL in 25-06. Both wear Leupold VX II's in QD mounts.

Can't go wrong with a 308 or 30-06, maybe even 7mm08.

I would tend to agree with your choice.

Great choices fellas but the 243 it is, shells are way easier to find than a 257 or 2506
