What to do? (DDM4 upper related)

So I ordered a DDM4 XVM upper from CRAFM (Midlength, 1/7) and they shipped me the DDM4 XV upper (Carbine, 1/7, M4 cut-out). Turns out they didn't even have any XVMs in stock despite having them advertised on their website and when I specifically asked if the upper had a midlength gas system.

I'm torn.

Should I return it and get a refund and perhaps go somewhere else with my money? I'm not sure who else has mid-length DD uppers.

Should I just keep it and be happy that I have a DD upper?

Or sell it private sale?

Looking for some advice. :)

Well my opinion is that you have a better upper. However if you feel you need the mid length, I guess you are entitled to return for a refund.

I say return it, and build your own. You can get most of the Daniel Defense line of parts through Wolverine. They also can order you uppers. What was the price if you don't mind me asking?

As far as the carbine to midlength gas system debate goes, I've used both extensively. I'm sure midlength has it's advantages, but the ole carbine system has always worked for me. ;)

I prefer carbine gas system with a cut out FSB rail - you can get the 12 oclock spot for light or laser infront of the FSB, with the benefit of a sturdy FSB that is slaved to the barrel so POI won't be affected by the temperature change of the barrel (mind you, we are not using this for bullseye shooting though)

I know DD makes great rails...how are the uppers quality wise? Looks like a good deal.

I've built on a lot of different uppers, I've used a lot of uppers, I own a decent number of them... Of all the upper receivers I have used, the Daniel Defense uppers have always been of the highest quality. They always fit very nicely on the lowers, I've never had an issue putting in a tight barrel, they are very good.

A friend of mine once said it best, The quality level for all Daniel Defense products STARTS where others are just ending.

There is no question Daniel Defense produce quality products.

Davemachine, CRAFM is ready to refund you 100% if this is not what you ordered (as it was confd on the phone by JPD at CRAFM)

The item you ordered is what was shipped, the problem is that the picture is not what the item in question should be (the wrong pic was posted).

This is why we prefer to have clients e-mail their order(s) in order to avoid this issues

if this is not to your satisfaction, pls contact CRAFM (JPD) and arrange to have this returned for a full credit.

Which is why I specifically asked if the upper had a midlength gas system; I was told it did which is why I placed my order. So it seems to me that not only was the picture wrong, but the employee I spoke to on the phone did not know what he was talking about when he personally checked to see if it was indeed a midlength.

Either way, I think I'll hang on to the upper but I think I'll be picking up a DD Omega rail from Wolverine, lest I get the wrong size.

Edit: I couldn't help myself and had to go shoot it. The look is starting to grow on me and it shoots damn good :D Does anyone know where to pickup a YHM phantom flash hider?
