What to do on a nice autumn day

Today was a beauty of an autumn day. Warm but not hot, clear, sunny and just a whisper of a breeze. I was going to hit the range, then thought "No, there's other things that need to get done."

I had the better part of a bucket of sorted wheel weights to process. Tossed in a bunch of old 63/37 solder I had kicking around and at the end had about 108lb of alloy to store. Felt good to get that done.

Just air cooled wheel weights. Mixed clip on and stick on. I've never measured the hardness, but they seem fine as I am just casting for handguns. PC kind if makes the hardness not too critical as well.

Hope this weather lasts a few more days...or weeks.... Wobbly & I were out shooting this weekend but i need to get some casting done before the weather turns (have some molds coming from the east so hope weather lasts longer than postal delays)

Just watching the news last night after getting home and first thought that came to mind...man there might be a lot of sail boat keel lead available for the boys around Florida

I feel your pain. I recently sold a FEG built counterfeit FN Hi Power to a friend. I've been on the phone with them twice now and have to call yet again. 127 entries for Hi Powers and they can't identified it in the FRT. The buyer and I think they lost the registration and don't want to admit it based on the questions they are asking.

that is great a non database restricted one. the system is working so good ...

Spent a couple of casting sessions on the Master Caster and turned about 35.5lb of the ingots into 147gr 9mm bullets. About 1600 of them.

Now to PC and size them.

Well done man...If I had a "do over" from years gone by I would probably buy a master caster. My loading records show somewhere close to 200,000 rounds of RNFP in the last 25 yrs so would have paid for itself many times over.

That's some handsome looking ingots:sok2
Your alloy is faintly similar to mine, I have some dead soft pure lead as well as linotype to add, as it suits.
Like you said, PC coating takes a lot of fuss out of this darn obsessionR:d:

While it is sure a nice rig to use (I got spoiled using Cactus's old machine), I don't think it's any faster and probably not as fast as a bottom pour pot and six banger mold. It is a lot easier on the hands though.

Did the first pass cleaning up two buckets of range lead. Got rid of the most crap. Will remelt and flux in the winter months, then cast into ingots.

Almost 100lbs, 4 more buckets to go
