Fellow Gurus, I'm having a "senior's moment" I have a beautiful mauser 98,a BYF-41 that has been bubbafied but is quite shootable,BUT.leave it in 8x57,or 8mm06,7x57, 7mm08,or???? There is a 7x57 south american barrel on ebay but its 19.5" but all my rifles have 20" tubes.I just prefer them that way for convenient bush travel. Velocity loss is minimal. I already have a 1909 in 284 win.Douglas barrel at 20" A 1908 in 9.3x62 also 20" Heym barrel.Had a 1908 in 358 win(sold it and still miss it) So what do I do ?? Fill up a hat and pull out a caliber??My wife ,bless her ,says to see what your "Gunnutz"reccomend! I hunt mainly Moose and Deer,and the occasional bear.
