What to do what to do...

...you could do a cerakote kit on your own (or $100 professionally)...how does it shoot?...if it's a cracker then i'd be more apt to do a bit more for it...

You could,,,I don't know,,, take it to the range and shoot it?? Hell, Its an SKS. Have fun with it. Mismatched or not it is still an SKS

...one of mine is not so accurate (typical SKS) ...the other is accurate ...i will work on trying to make them more accurate this winter ...including reload work-ups ...i do have an advantage for shooting in that i live in a remote area and can walk out my door and shoot any time ...i use the less accurate SKS with a reflex sight at 50 yards on steel plate, which i enjoy a lot! ...the other will get a work over and likely be kept for shooting at farther distances ...they each have their place ...i wouldn't get rid of either ...oh, did i say how much fun the less-accurate one is at 50 yards on steel? ;)

[...i've had some real dogs of rifles over the years that i couldn't wait to get rid of, but this SKS is not anywhere near that category]

...you got some place to shoot it other than a range?

...i tried krylon on mine at first but it started chipping right away, even with an undercoat ...so i stripped it, and this is what it looked like when the refurb paint came off

...i then used amercoat 400, a two-stage pigmented epoxy, and which i use on my farm ...it's expensive by the gallon, but perhaps $5 for the amount i used here and extremely durable (as well as highly toxic...outdoor use only with a mask is a must) ...this is what i got ...a really fun gun to shoot (my other SKS is blued and untouched, so it stays black and as it is)
