I am looking to do some coyote hunting this winter in the Saskatoon area. I enjoy hunting and I know many people leave the coyotes to let nature take its course, but I'd feel better if I do something with the animals I take. I am looking to do the hunting and shooting part, but when it comes to skinning, tanning, etc. of the coyotes, I really have no interest or need for the pelts. Does anyone know of a tannery or person that is interested in buying some coyotes? There seems to be lots around these days, and I have no problem with keeping the population in check, especially since they seem to have been a little hard on the deer in the areas that I hunt in the last few years.

Is a coyote worth any particular dollar amount to someone that will have to do the skinning, tanning etc?

I was gonna suggest see if there is still a bounty on them. Looks like it was cancelled this year though.

yes unfortunately university kept me poor enough not to be able to able to afford a coyote rifle the last few years. So I completely missed the "get paid to hunt" idea.

A shot coyote with prime fur NO mange might be worth 15 to 20 bucks if the bullet holes are small and can be sewn shut. If you are going to sell shot coyotes some tips for getting more for them would be to clean the blood off with snow and put them on a tarp, cardboard, etc so they don't freeze to the metal in the truck bed and pull the guard hairs out. To find someone buying contact the Saskatchewan Trappers Association they should know who around Stoon is buying. Unless you intend to use the pelt yourself tanning is a waste of money as the fur action houses will downgrade them since most buyers just want the hides fleshed, stretched and dried.
