is there any way we can recycle or scrap empty brass that no one reloads (ex. .22lr) it seems like such a waste to throw them away....

REALLY! i dont think any of the brass from the club here is scrapped i thought they would have a problem with the primers/risk of live rounds.

looks like i need to find somehwere that will buy scrap brass....

Gee, where have you been?:p:D

A couple of years back during a short stint of being unemployed, I spent 3 hours at the range one evening picking brass. Walked away from the scrap dealer the next day with $80.00 bucks in my pocket. Tax free wage!

you can sell the sell that isnt good? well.. DAMN.. i have been playing brass monkey for the boy when i could have been collecting scrap on my own while he had the good stuff

I used to pick up spent brass at the range...and when I had enough of it I,d buy a rifle and loading dies for the brass :D
Those were the good old days and the excuse I used to buy a new rifle.:dancingbanana:
Latly most shooters been picking up their own brass ....but it was fun for a while

I deprime all of my old brass and sell it for cash at the recycling center.

How much do you get for it? Cablemonkey suggested perhaps $2-3 per pound. I didn't think it would bring that much.
(not that I would complain though! I've got a bunch of old Berdan crap in a bucket somewhere)

Here on the island it was going for $1.40 lbs. (yellow brass) last week. I don't know about elsewhere, but some places here give a reduced rate for they insist on hand sorting empty cartridges. Apparently the barrels of brass coming from the DND have a lot of live rounds in them and the foundrys were tired of it cooking off and exploding, showering molten brass everywhere.
On a side note, did an experiment with .22 brass and it takes almost 500 of them to make a pound, you're gonna have to work for it.

At our Club we save ALL the .22 rim fire that is used at the indoor range plus members that are reloading, bring their split or damaged center-fire bass to us for the same reason. Yes I am one that constantly reloads 9mm, 38 Spl, to 45ACP.

Even at super low prices of $32.00 to much higher prices now IT IS MONEY TO THE CLUB.
