My dad came across this rifle for me that I will be getting for very cheap or free. I have restored/de-sporterized a Lee Enfield before so I know how to.
The strange thing is I have never seen a sight mounted to the barrel before(on a No4). Is this a common sporterize thing or is that a random gunsmith job? Hopefully its dilled and tapped and not welded. Not sure if you can drill and tap that. (That's what she said). If it is welded I guess its forever a sporter eh?
What rear sight should it have? My research shows it should have the small flip sight as oppose to the micrometer sight on a English No4 MK1, am I correct?
Should I:
1. Leave it alone
2. Spend a year or two tracking down parts
3. Make my English No4 into a sporter and have a Canadian full wood. The English No4 does not have a single matching number any way
