What to do with used C02s?

Local Metal Scrap guy is happy to take them. Waterloo Region was accepting them in their recycling bins when I lived there as well.

As usual... your mileage may vary.

Spud gun sounds like way more fun than recycling :dancingbanana:

I just cut an empty one open (Crosman). After deburring the cut off end & sanding the inside a bit, I measured an inside diameter of 0.662".

The theoretical bore size of a 16 gauge shotgun is 0.663".

The Lee Key Drive 12 gauge slug has an outside diameter of 0.681" as per this website address:

http://leeprecision.com/1-oz-slug-mold.html

Lee 1oz Slug Mold features the exclusive drive key which positively rotates the slug in rifled shotgun barrels. Includes sprue plate, handles and instruction with suggested loads.

1 OZ diameter = .681 inches length= .640inches

Other uses:

when you cut off the open end of an empty C02 canister, you get a nice deep drawing steel 'test tube'. You could possibly use it as a small crucible for melting small loads of zinc, lead, aluminium, & maybe copper(?).

It could also make a nice thimble for those of us with man hands.

I dunno, try at your own risk, BUT, we used to cut regular match heads off and stuff them down the throat --- a sprinkler served as a fuse. Best M80 you can get this side of the border.

Ooops! ;)

I hit them with a hammer to flatten them, drop them in a 5 gallon bucket and sell them as scrap when the bucket is 3/4 full. Takes me 2 or 3 years but 30 bucks is 30 bucks.
