What to do without gun shows to feed the addiction

I have been feeling the withdrawl of not being able to stroll around the local gun shows. Every April here in Manitoba the Dugald gun show would be a meeting place for all the old collectors. The line ups were sometimes out the doors and down the street to get in. With covid I have been looking to feed my addiction on here, and other gun sites as well as old school newspapers. Lately I have been looking all across Canada and the US at auctions , and they seem to have quite a few more guns , parts , ammo. I know that you cannot handle a rifle and look touch and smell through the screen of your computer but I think that this is going to be the new gunshows for a while.

Icollector has been my go to for now as you can register and shop with ease. Kidd, Meyers, Switzers have multiple auctions throughout the year.

How many of my fellow gunnutz have taken the plunge to shop online as well as sell?

Great... just great... I am already addicted, and I didn't even know a gun show was a thing. ;) I mean, I've seen a few videos, I know they exist, but never even thought that one might happen in my area.
You know where I will be online all weekend. My wife thanks you, I am sure. Bahahaha...

I set up folding tables in the basement, lay out my wares, and dicker with myself. And I get some great deals, unlike at the real thing!

Ya missing the shows have me in the throws of remission as well . There was a local auction ( to me) there were several items of interest that I bid on, I won two.( won , not so much LOL!!) The poor pictures and description were of little help . Any hey! The ammo turned out to be all but useless other than for the pulled bullets, the cases split or rotten . So buyers beware. Auctions are a great place to dump junk and get screwed.

The auctions have been getting the junk the old guys have been dragging around over priced for years. SO now the great dump is on. Just redump the junk. Auctions will love you, have seen the same crap auctioned off three times. Party on.

With the nicer weather coming would it be possible to hold an outdoor gun show? Instead of tables use open display tents? Farmers markets do it all the time and the bigger ag halls in Ontario would have enough land.

Hi, my name is Nitro, I'm a gun-show-holic, it's been a year since I was at a gunshow.

Online auctions are an alternative to a gunshow, but some of the items that you would see at gunshows never shows up online. Those little odds and sods, little box of parts, and odd caliber guns. I've been going to gunshows for a long time, and have even rented tables at the odd one.

I think that the first gunshows after COVID will be nuts.

There has been a few old cronies at the local shows in the past that have been hoarding , and they have come to a age that they are liquidating or soon need to. I am waiting like a Raven for a chance of a scrap or two. When he unloads his single shot collection it will be a feeding frenzy. Sharps ,Ballards , Stevens

I sure miss the gunshows, especially over the winter when there isn't so much going on normally.
Browsing the tables and running into friends from the gun circuit is always fun, better than an online auction or website.
Never left a gunshow without having found some decent deals to make it worthwhile.

For our small gunclub I normally organize a Spring and Fall gunshow and this Spring is the third one that we were not allowed to run..missing out on a decent fundraiser really sucks for a small club especially if all fundraiser dinners are also canceled.

We had one last September 2020 in Lachute, Québec at an Outdoor Flee Market and it went quite well. It was a bit cold in the early morning set-up, but otherwise is was fine. Americans do not seem to be afraid, the big Tulsa, Oklahoma (4,000 tables) is on for next weekend. Because the border is closed and with all the restrictions on air travel I will miss it again this year.

.......IF COVID ever goes away. Will it ever be the same??

a local guy used to go to Tulsa and set up a table bringing antiques only from Canada down to sell, he said if you saw something you liked on a table you had better buy it or you would never be able to find the table again with all the people.
He always did well with his stuff ........Americans love the old single shots and Civil War stuff

We held a show last July on the Island using an existing range that closed for the purpose Tables were set up 10 feet apart along the firing line, 10 yard line, 25 yard line, 50 yard and 75 yard lines. People monitered thru the gate wearing a mask and when approaching a table, if someone else was there looking the next in line stood back until clear. Really well attended, most respectful crowd very glad to get a gun show "FIX". Worked for the club as well as very good revenue both from tables and traffic. Run this way should work most anywhere I think.

Sounds like there are possible solutions for making it happen. Hopefully as the summer draws closer weather will be dependable enough to try more shows, indoor or out.
Had to check a couple gun shops and an "outdoors store" today to satisfy the need for gun content. I don't know why I keep going to Cabela's. I'm expecting to be disappointed and it's still always a let down.
