What to do?

I was hunting Monday and Tuesday and am going back out on Friday and Saturday. A guy from our hunt group went out Wed and found other guys in our stands thinking we had left. Told them to leave but they were not happy. I am going out alone with my daughter to have her sit in the stand with me to see if she would be interested in hunting. But I am concerned that there maybe someone there. What would be the best thing to say without spoiling this and leaving a bad image in my daughters mind?

Private land that we have permission on the guys who were sitting in the stand hunt the other side of the bush and mainly stay there, so was surprised they were in our stands. That land is also owned by the same owner and never had a problem with them. But we have had problems with some of the locals thinking since they live in the area it gives them the right to hunt anywhere even though they have been told by owner they are not welcome. I just want to find the most diplomatic way to deal with these guys without having a fight. Now mind you my guy did tell them we would be back so I may not have trouble with them but then there is the locals.

It is tough Gurly, there is no right way to do it. There will never be happy because it is embarrassing being kicked out. You are right about locals, they get uppitty.

I am a local and what pisses me off are people from away (Americans mainly), who feel that since they are spending big $$ they have more rights than I do on public land and private land we share permission on. They piss me off.

Your locals may feel the same way, rightly or wrongly.

All you can do is follow Dan's advice, I hope it works out for you. All you can really do is be polite otherwise it is a confrontation.

I have to ask as I am not clear, are you sure they don't also have permission on the same field?

Sounds like you folks are hunting some very crowded areas when you find other people in your stands. I wouldn't be too kind if I found a trespasser in my stand on private land. Personally, I'd be seeking more remote areas even if it meant several hours more driving time.
 
Girly them up abit, install some soft flower print pillows, hang drapes, and such, I bet they won't use the stands anymore after that. :p

Being that you are involving your daughter and you want to make it as pleasant as possible for both, you obviously want some sort of peaceful and pleasant resolve. How about getting a note from the landowner stating your sole rights to the stand? :)
 
Talk to one of the other members in your hunting party, and see if they can at least walk you in to your stand. Once your there, and trespassers who think of coming in will most likely not bother you once they see your on stand. Good luck and stay safe.
