I have a tikka t3 in .243 im looking for a new scope for it and want to know some opinions.

I have been looking at a Minox ZA5 4 -20x50, is that to much scope for this rifle? (keep in mind i use it for deer as well as varmint)

another thing i was wondering does any one know any other minox dealers besides cabelas?

if any one has some imputes on what power range to go with and manufactures of scope let me know. I am hoping to make a decision very soon and am open to any sugestion.

on my rifle right now is a vortex diamondback 4-12x40 with AO not a real clear scope in my eyes

other scopes i have been considering is a leupold VXR in 4-12x50 ?

let me know what you guys think

thanks

if your looking for minox try plainsight solutions. you will find him under the optic specilists on this sight. he is good to deal with.

If you are using the rifle for deer and coyotes there really is no need to go over 10x. The higher mags are good for target shooting and objects that are'nt gonna move much.
I have Zeiss 3.5-10x44 Rapid Z600 and its plenty good for deer or coyotes. almost 90% of the time it sits on 6X. You can get some really good less with the lower powers. Id look at Zeiss, Leica and Swarovski.

a lot of the time we get coyotes in at 300yds, 10 would be on the low end dont you think ?

another one i have looked at is the trijicon accupoint. i also do target shooting and would like to get more into it but for the most part the rifle is for deer and varmint which is my main dilema for scope power and choice of scope

stay away from Minox scope they have a weak 1" tube & will crush or pinch if you tighten your rings to much. I used to sell them and I would stay away for that reason, note: the glass is good.

out of the 3 your listed Leupold has the best warrenty and best glass,
Minox will not warranty your scope or will give you a hard time about warrenty if you don't have the receipt. do you think you can hang on the your receipt for 10+ years? I know I can't
Vortex has a very good warranty but there scopes are made overseas most in china

I used to used Nikon, Minox, Bushnell, Vortex & some cheaper sh!t.

I have sold all my scopes and only use Leupold now for warranty & repair reasons. plus I can pass these scopes off to my grand kids down the road & it can be 50+ years old, Leupold will still cover the warranty.

Trijicon accupoint I love the look of this scope & I almost bought one ---- But I talked to Trijicon and the warrenty is only 15 years non-transferable & they won't service it after the warrenty time is up so your SOL.
So you have to ask your self are you still going to be hunting 15+ years after you buy a Trijicon then you will have no warranty.

saw the leupold vx6 at cabelas in 3-18x50 but couldnt find it on the leupold website. anyone know what thats about?

A 2.5-15x56 Swarovski with BRH reticle may be what you want to coyotes. The ballistic program identifies the distance for each hash mark for each particular calibre, bullet etc. The glass is better than a zeiss conquest. I have both.

The Zeiss scope mentioned previously or Leupold VX3 6.5-20x40 or the 4.5-14x40 get my vote. I have a 4.5-14x40 & 3.5-10x40 both with BC reticles (VXIII model) on 2 of my 270WSM and a 6.5-20x40AO with fine duplex (Vari-X III model) on my 22-250. On my Sako m75ss 243, I have a Leupold VXII 4-12x40AO with LRD duplex - LOVE IT - this is my main predator rifle. Maybe a VX2 6-18 as another choice.

In the Leupold VXIII / VX3 line, maybe look at the Boone & Crocket reticle or the Varmint reticle.

As you can see I am a Leupold fan but I am seriously looking at a Zeiss for my newest rifle I just purchased. One thing I like on the Leupolds are the Alumina lense kits and flip-up covers. So I am deciding between the Zeiss 4.5-14x44 and the Leupold VX3 4.5-14x40 with BC reticle. One thing I amm not a fan of is a 50mm+ OBJ lense, but thats me.

I actually find the vortex diamondback to be a good scope for the money. Its better than any other $300 scopes out there IMHO....But, if you wanted to move up in quality, I would stick with vortex, but just get a higher end model, like a viper, or better. If I was to buy european, then I would be looking at a Zeiss and Minnox, side by side, and determine which you like better. I know bushnell makes some cheap crap, but the tactical elite series are pretty clear, and are solid, plus the turrets work like they should, and return to zero perfect (atleast the one I had did).
