What to put on my new to me 270win Mauser action rifle!

Well I have a new rifle on the way in 270 win! It's a Swedish mauser 96 action, in a descent little wood stock. It's is going to be my main hunting rifle and will be hunting everything from black tail deer on Vancouver island to elk, moose, black bear, and whitetail in Alberta. I've got it narrowed down to two options for optics.

Leupold vx3i 3.5-10x40 with CDS
OR
Vortex HS 2.5-10x44

Which one do you guys think is a better all around scope and would best suits my needs? I don't care about price or warranty, I just want to know which one do you guys think would best suite my needs! Any feed back is good feed back!

Leupold have the better clarity, the cds dial tracks well. I have the 4.5-14x40 vx3i. Alumina covers are super nice and there's nothing comparable from vortex. The only issue I have with these is the fact eye relief shortens as you go up in mag. Not the best for maintaining cheek position, the vortex I believe has constant eye relief. I dont have that model, I've got a 4-16 HST
 
I should also mention, when I bought the vx3i I put it side by side with a swaro Z3 with the ballistic turret. I was shopping expecting to buy the swaro but the leupold was sharper, had a better reticle (windplex) and the elevation dial was tighter (less chance of getting spun in the field).
 
I wouldn't hesitate to use the Leupold in your situation. Even though Vortex has a good warranty, Leupold's have a better reputation with reliability right out of the gate.
Yes, even Leupold's have the occasional lemon squeek through, but not near the amount Vortex does. For that fact, I say Leupold. For a range gun, who cares, but for a HUNTING gun, you do need that reliability. Nothing worse than seeing the animal of your dreams and then looking through a foggy lens, or a reticle that is crooked. That is what you pay for really when Q.C. is concerned.
 
Leupold is my go to scope choice. Having Korth as the warranty depot is a big part of that preference. I tend to purchase used scopes rather than new, and Korth checks them out and makes any necessary adjustments, with postage being the only additional cost, unless I choose to change reticles.

This should not be considered a slam against Vortex, I've never owned one, so I don't have an opinion about them. I was going to get my wife a pair of Vortex binoculars, but she opted for Minox due to the weight of the Vortex, and I've seen folks on here say that Vortex scopes tend to be on the heavy side. If they stand up to the rigors of field use, I consider the weight to be a minor complaint if mounted on a general purpose hunting rifle.
 
You won't go wrong with the 3.5-10 VX3. Don't rule out the B&C reticle; I've got several with CDS and many more with the B&C. For zero to 500 or so I'll take the reticle everytime.
