Hi I want to scope a sav 24 with a grooved rec'r(barrel) I wont be using a cheap scope. Any reccomendations??? Ps haven't done it before.Rings, possible scope etc. Thanks JITC:confused:

Had a 0X redot type scope on mine for a number of years. I sighted it in for the .22 and it also worked for the .410. The long eye relief and zero magnification was a great set up for that gun. The only reason I took it off was becuase I put it on my slug gun and never got around to buying another one.

x2 for a red dot - have one one my 24C since the day i bought it in 1986 - best grouse set up I have ever used - and once again, doesnt need to be expensive. Lebaroms sells a Tasco for grooved .22 receivers for about $35.00

Other than a red-dot, something in the 2-7x32 class is probably a good all around compromise, provided that you are shooting slugs with the .410 and not wingshooting clays.

As for rings, have a look at the Burris Signature Zee and Burris Quick Detach line. You can find grooved-to-weaver adapters, from BLK and B-square and then mount your scope with Burris QD rings. QD will let you take the scope off for wing shooting and not have to re-zero when you reinstall it. And the adapter is low enough, you can still use the iron sites with the scope off.
