I use the old Freeland bipod scope stand. It works great for prone shooting. But not so great if sitting in a chair coaching, or just watching the conditions before a match. A three legged stand would work better in this situation.
depends. For game just about anything will do. For astro or photo I would say a quality Manfrotto or Gitzo. I have a couple frotto pods for photography, but am looking at a Gitzo 6X monopod for trekking around.
I use a heavy weight tripod. Typical light weight tripods don't dampen vibrations from a heavy spotting scope. Mine happens to be a Vivatar Pro that I picked up used. (and cheap)
i'm settling w/ the Manfrotto 055XPROB. seems to suite my needs just fine. only problem is w/ the size - it's about 6-8" too long when fully retracted.
