What type of hunting coat is the guy on the left wearing? It's my wife's great grandfather. I would like to find one like it.

Thanks,

Those mackinaws were great coats!! A bit heavy [double layered ones, particularly], but warm and would keep you dry for a long time.
I had a couple when I was younger, and relished them when the weather was nasty. Dave.

I've been wearing a Filson Double Mackinaw for 7 years, (they are very heavy, but extremely warm) however it dosen't look like the one in the photo, granted styles have changed. I don't know how far back Woolrich and Codet wool clothing go's, however it could also be one of them.

I had and wore a Filson double Mack for years. Very durable, but a little pricey.
Certainly warm ... and heavy. The cut was a little different from that in the photo, but not greatly.

Filson still carries the Double Mackinaw Cruisers ... they start at $ 465 US !

Wow, they sure went up in price.......I paid $365.00 Canadian.

I think that the hunters on the left and centre are both wearing the same style of coat - double breasted heavy wool in a faint plaid pattern. I'd like to find a coat like it, too.

Is there any information on the date the picture was taken, or the location?

Bob

I would say just prior or post WW11.

I think the fella in the middle is sporting the same coat, not buttoned up. Great pic. What is the rifle he is holding? Looks like a Krag...
