As the title says ! What type of magnification do you run on your long range shooting rifle ?

Im talking about 500 yards plus shooting at least. I run a 3-12 Leupold. What do you have ? Milldots? I wish mine had more. Only vertical MD's

There are two schools on this: those that figure if 3-12 is 'good enough for USMC etc etc' it is good enough for me and those that consider that there is no such thing as too much magnification. On my Barnard F/Open I have a S+B PMii 12-50x56 with 1/8th clicks, on my Coyote tactical precision rifle I have a S+B PMii 12-50x56 with 1/4 clicks and on my PGW F/TR rig there currently sits a NF BR 12-42x56 with 1/8th clicks. You will see from this selection I fall into the more mag the better school :)

Im still a fairly new shooter but im assuming I fall into more mag the better also. Now just to save up the coin for a really good optic. only spent around 700 on my current one.

I am running a Nightforce 5-25x56 ATACR on my .338 Lapua improved with great results clearly picking up 10" steel at 2000yds

I shoot iron sights with a .5 lens in the front sight. I only shoot out to 1000 yards so I don't see a reason to mount a scope on the rifle.;)

5-25 S&B PMII fine. But I usually shoot on 16x as I find the mirage magnification gets to be a bit much after while at higher powers. I will shoot at 25 if it's really far away and a small target, but prefer the 16 power range. I use the 25 more for spotting my partner or other shooters if I'm too lazy to get up behind my #### spotting scope.

FFP is too imprecise for me. The reticles become so thick at higher magnifications it simply doesn't make sense if you want to actually see your target. In my household there is a Viper PST 6-24 ffp and PST 4-16 sfp... the ffp was a WASTE of money.

At the moment a Razor 5-20x. Find most of my 1000+yards is shot at 16x. My 100 yard and shorter range stuff is max zoom with whatever scope I'm using.

FFP reticle thickness is highly dependent on the scope you are using. No issues here.
