What type of stock has PROVEN to be the most accuracy improving

So just like it sounds I'm looking for some Solid facts if there out there.
Conventional or MonteCarlo style, Thumbhole, Pistolgrip with Butt????? or any others that are worth mentioning. Thanks guys.
 
Stock choice is more a preference thing. No real science to it, just a fit and form to the individual shooter. Heavier stocks have more of a bench rest application used to manage recoil and increase stability - but have little use in the field. Thumbhole stocks are a "luv'm or hate'm" thing. The characteristics of a good stock is rigidity, precise fit of the action and recoil lug, and a free floated barrel. Epoxy bedding, pillar bedding, or full aluminum chasis are a means to the same end.

Heavier weight will absorb recoil, reducing the shooter's discomfort and tendency to flinch. This has been proven to improve accuracy.

Proper bedding maintains consistency. This has been proven to improve accuracy.

Proper fit to the individual shooter, usually felt by the shooter as better comfort and easy handling, makes it more likely the shooter will hold and aim the gun correctly. This has been proven to improve accuracy.

Which one gives the most improvement depends on which one was, to begin with, worst in that particular aspect for that particular shooter.
 
"...The one that's properly bedded..." That fits you properly. The bedding of the stock has more to do with accuracy than the type of stock.
 
Yes I am in agreement with you on that, Robertson is damned hard to beat and they are Canadian to boot! I have had 3 made up so far. All perform and look above any other I have had.

I recently saw one of his (tactical) stocks for the first time...Very nice.....I had no idea!
I have a 6mbr project in mind and will try one of his stocks.
 
"...a rail would be the "proven" most accuracy improving..." How so? Proven by who? If a rifle doesn't shoot reasonably well out of the box, a 'rail' isn't going to make it shoot better.

Completely eliminates the stock and hold question. After that, it is only the accuracy of the gun that shows, for good or ill. - dan
