Hey guys, I just purchased my first Pistol, Glock 21, and am curious as to what sort of upgrades do you suggest? I'm planning on getting into competitive shooting but being new to this I'm curious as to what other people have done to their guns and why.
It is a regular sized frame not the SF. (I have Man-hands)

Thanks.

P.S. Photos are greatly appreciated!

Merry Christmas!

here's my 2 cents worth... Don't do anything whatsoever to the gun until you have put at least 2000 rounds through it. Then you will know what you like and don't like about the gun. your money will be better spent on ammo and range time until you have spent enough time behind the trigger of the gun to shoot it well enough to know what changes might make it perform better for you.

You're completely right. I'm just curious as to what is out there simply due to a lack of experience.

Cheers!

Knowing what's out there might lead you to believe there's more "wrong" with your gun than there actually is. Just go shoot it.

Nothing!!!! Just shoot the #### out of it and let your buddies shoot the #### out of it. Its a Glock it loves it! My 17 is the range slut. All the boy's have had a go with it!

Shoot the gun for a while to get used to it & resolve any warranty issues, Then you can see some accessories HERE.. We usually upgrade sights & the mag release on all Glocks.

Might want to spend your savings on ammo especially when this is your first gun. 5000 rounds should be enough.

Then buy spare mags and holster, mag pouch, etc.

+1 on put several thousand rounds through first.

Putting a TruGlo FO sight and 3.5# connector kit on mine. Can't stand that Glock rear U sight and heavy trigger.

Must haves are

Glock OEM Ext slide catch
Glock OEM Ext mag release
Ghost Rocket 3.5lbs connect "you must hand fit this"
Good metal sights "Trijicon night sights are nice :)"
25 cent trigger job
grip plug

Thats it thats all :)

I ve tried the light weight strikers and safety plungers "there pure junk"

The G21 is a fantasic gun "if you do your part you will get under 3" at 20m"

As it's been said so far, put 1000+ rounds through your G21 first. It'll have a pretty crappy trigger at first but with many rounds down range, it'll smoothen out. From there, you can start "upgrading" it and you'll actually be able to tell which changes are beneficial or not since you have more experience with how it shoots.

Dsiwy has pointed out some good mods here and I personally prefer to use mostly Glock OEM parts (I'm referencing the 3.5lb connector here but full disclosure: I have a Vicker's extended mag release since it's less jagged then the OEM extended mag release).

My G17 has the following changes and shoots very nice:
Glock NY1 trigger spring
Glock 3.5lb connector
Glock extended slide stop
Vicker's extended mag release
Trijicon night sights (stock)

The two most must have upgrade/accessory to your Glock 21:

This for obvious reasons. Get lots of this. :D

Because loading magazines is much more boring then unloading them. :D And your thumbs will thank you.
