Four pages and no one has mentioned the Type 97.
Most definitely the next cool red rifle to come here.
It was mentioned.

"...red rifle to be imported..." I'd bet on none. Despite Harper being somewhat firearm owner friendly, he still allows civil servants to make law by regulation. Until that is stopped I suspect no more milsurps or civilian copies of Warsaw Pact firearms will be allowed in.
Broomsticks??? What is this not familiar with these? Please add a pic
I am pretty sure the type 81 will be ok. It is a modified sks with a removable mag. Even the mag is different then the ak. I thought tactical imports was bringing them in soon.
The type 81 will be next even old man kalashnikov said its an improvemtn over the ak74
I don't get it? Is AK action that much better? Does it pump out the crappy 7.62x39 that much better than an SKS or a vz58? The AK seems to fart and pop like an old ford engine out of tune. I don't want an AK just because how horny these guys get over them.
When/where did he say this...?
actually it does use a rotating 2 lug bolt just like an ak, but the gas piston is not attached to the carrier. the gas piston only has a cover like a vz. the main advantage over an ak is accuracy, the reciever is elongated preventing the bolt carrier from smacking the back of the receiver. They will most likely come with chrome lined barrels which is a major advantage over the cz858.It is actually a marriage of several designs. The SKS, the AK and the Type 63. The important part is that the action is not what was derived from the AK, that part was the modification of the SKS gas and action. This fact will be key in its classification.
The mags are unique to the Type 81 in that they have a bolt hold open modification. AK mags will work in the rifle, but the bolt hold open with not function if using AK mags.

the increased accuracy comes from the reciever design
Please explain that.
The standard barrel would be restricted. A new, nonrestricted length barrel may not be chrome lined much like the cz858 but who knows.
Now, the LMG version, that has a non-restricted length as is. And would look awesome on a firing line next to a Valmet M78 and/or a DSA RPD.
One can dream.
Type 81 uses Short stroke gas piston, rotating bolt which enables better control of the weapon due to less mass needing to be stopped at either end of the bolt carrier travel.
