What will happen to the VZ58 now that the CZ858 is prohib ?

C-71 specifically lists certain models. As it stands, it looks as if the proposed prohibition applies only to the listed rifles.
Do you believe that the Gov't would prohibit some Czech rifles, and not other essentially similar ones?

Of course the bill has not become law. Yet. OP is seeking clarification. There are Czech rifles other than the ones named in the bill.

I think you all are misinformed. The reason why these cz858 versions (2p,2v etc....) are going prohibited is because they were built off of full auto receivers then converted to semi. Which is a no no.
That's why they were pushed to be banned so hard from the libs.

The VZ58 is a newly manufactured receiver that started life out as a semi only. Thus not a converted receiver. THUS ok to own. ........ for now but that can be said about any firearm

The first batch of semi VZ58s imported were brought in by Marstar. Assembled with used and NOS parts. Restricted because of barrel length. Receivers were remanufactured selective fire. RCMP approved because the receivers had never been assembled into rifles, and the alterations were deemed to be part of the manufacture of semi auto rifles. It hit the fan when finished rifles started being converted - even though the receiver alterations were identical.
What do you suppose the Gov't is going to do when asked why some Czech rifles are prohibited while other almost identical rifles are not? Are they going to defend some rifles being non-restricted or restricted when others are prohibited?

Those were NOT VZ58's. I recall them being CZH 2003 rifles made in the SHE plant.
My guess is the RCMP had those slip thru the cracks, till now.......

If that was the case why wouldn't they just say all VZ58 and variants then!?!?!
Instead of just the variants that were built off of full auto receivers? Cuz they too have to follow the law thru what is in he legislation on how it defines what category rifles are suppose to be in or not?

I should have said VZ58 type rifles. The point is that converted/remanufactured receivers were used, with the approval of the RCMP.

Depends if they want to follow the law as written in regards to converted auto's..... or their emotions.

I doubt the 2007 models were fully assembled and then re-built. More like the receivers had serial numbers stamped on them or some other BS.

The fact is common sense would suggest that none of them should be prohibited, and in fact many other prohibs should be moved back to restricted or even non restricted.

But with the new ratchet mechanism back in place that states gun classification changes can only move in one direction with the final destination either a locked safe or smelter...... it's pretty obvious how the Liberals and RCMP will apply common sense.

I've heard metal workers say it's harder to mill welds then regular steel.
The "easily converted" terminology needs to be defined and the entire gun legislation needs a re write in plain English.

And now I assume they do not like that. Hence why they tried to prohibit them (Just like the SAN rifles) a few years back.

They didn't try to prohib the new CSA VZ58 rifles then either

The current bill doesn't give a reason for the prohibition, it just prohibits them by name, since that's the case, the RCMP can now have their cake (the now named "CA" guns) and eat it, too (the variants). From their perspective, it's a win-win.

If the Mossberg Blaze 47 is deemed to be a "variant" of an AK.....Then no doubt a VZ58 will be a "variant" of the CZ858.

^^ This!!! Variant will become the RCMP's favorite word. Do not forget that recently the CPC tried to have the term "variant" defined... The Liberal government did not want to have the term defined. Draw your own conclusions. I know what mine are. Time to fight this bill with all we got, no holds barred.

I'm curious about how when they changed the Beowulf magazines classification certain magazines were banned from selling on the EE so I am wondering why knowing now that certain guns are about to suffer the same fate, Why is there not a similar ban from selling those on the EE as well ?
