What will you buy when the ban ends?

You think Canadians will see the ban ending. Remember 46% voted for the ban to not end. Very simply lead to the slaughter/conformity.
One of your sig lines is the solution. I guarantee firearms were not even on the minds of 99% of that 46% that voted Liberal. It's our job to put it on their minds. If you have family/friends that vote liberal, discuss with them the personal impact it has on you and how it's not actually improving public safety and it's simply a waste of money. You might change some minds, and even if not it will make them hesitate now that they've realized that their vote has a tangible impact on someone they care about.

It may be more practical to focus on how to have anything you truly need regardless of any bans.
Before the latest set of restrictions, this would have never crossed my mind. Practical? I used to buy handguns because I thought they looked cool. Heck, I bought an H&K PSP because I read a James Bond novel (John Gardner, not Ian Fleming) and always thought it was "cool". (It was cool, but it was expensive, and I didn't use it that much, so I sold it and bought something else.)

Now that I'm concerned about the ability to keep or pass on any handguns I own, I look back on the days when I bought "cool" guns and shot them for fun or in matches, and realize how far we've fallen. Tragically, the newcomers to firearms won't get to experience the joy of getting a new handgun and taking it to the range for the first time.

And I appreciate the Marie Kondo vibe - you are correct, most of us have too much "stuff" and could improve our wellbeing by shedding. The one wrinkle with handguns... It isn't easy to divest any of these assets. It's terrible that I can't sell a handgun that I don't use anymore to someone who wants to ramp up their shooting.
