What would I be missing?

I've never reloaded before, but it's going to be the only way to afford to shoot the calibers that I do very much (45/70, 38/55, etc)

I would like to buy a single stage that I won't eventually need to upgrade.

What I'm thinking of is:

RCBS 90355 - TRIM PRO MANUAL CASE TRIMMER KIT

RCBS 87088 - VIBRATORY CASE CLEANER-2 110-VAC (want this because I'm also going to do pistol on a progessive down the road.)

RCBS 87075 - Media Sifter for Vibratory Cleaner

RCBS 9357 - ROCK CHUCKER SUPREME MASTER KIT

+ dies and shell holders obviously.

Is the scale in the master kit decent? What about the powder measure, etc? Would I be better off getting the bare press and buying better individual pieces? What am I missing (other than another manual)?

I've got a decent quality caliper that looks just like the RCBS one.

I'm not sure what's included with that kit. You'll want a couple of case trays to keep your brass upright while you're filling. You'll only do the domino thing a couple of times, and you will do it, before you'll go and buy some anyway. The Mrs will call you for dinner, you reach for something, the cat jumps up on the bench....whatever. All of a sudden you've got brass rolling around and powder everywhere.

RCBS provides a very complete starter kit and great after market service.

They have replaced decapping pins FREE,that I broke through foolishness.

Dillon is also very good with after sales service.

Good luck.

Hornady

Hornady has a new kit out that is alot less money than the RCBS, yet very well built. Seems to me that their die sets are less money as well. Might be called a Lock and Load. P&D in Edmonton has the new press in stock. FS

Done and Done

You will need the proper 45-70 shell holder for the case trimmer as the kit does not come with it. (A number 14 is what you need)

You will also need a .37 calibre pilot for your 38-55 as that size does not come with the kit.

RCBS also has 2 different .45 calibre pilots for their case trimmers. The one that comes with the kit is for 45 calibre handgun cartridges. While it works OK on 45-70 cartridges the slightly larger 45-R rifle pilot is a better fit.
