I'm looking for a shootgun that I will carry(unloaded of course) in my ATV storage box when going up north. I've never done that before but with the amount of forest fires we had lately, there has been a number of reports about bears coming out for food among other animals...
I did see some LEO and Forest Rangers last time I went. both agreed that a shotgun would not be an issue and is definitaly a good idea.
The easy solution owuld be to bring a restricted toy but that wont happen. I dont want trouble.
It will be minimum required lenght to be legit of course(18 inch canon, 26 total).
It wont be shiny, it'll be bouced around, it'll be scratched(even if carried in a protective sleeve). I need this to be dead reliable if I ever need it(pick up, load 2-3 rounds and use only IF very necessary). I'll do my best to make sure it's protected from dust and the elements of course but you never know.
I'm thinking about a 870 Express with a pistol grip or something along those lines. I'm sure I can find a used one for cheap still in good shape mechanically but has seen better days for estethics.
Any other suggestions?
