Let's say in theory, someone has the chance to buy a 1944 production Walther P38, from an owner who has no idea of it's value. The gun is in good condition, with all the original German markings intact, and comes with an extra mag. What would you figure it's worth?

Yah I'd say for a good war time production about $500 is fair price. Oh and make SURE you get it into the system if it's not previously registered... you wouldn't want to break the law, would you?

You guys can fantasizing about $500 price as long as you want but those days are long gone. You can maybe get P1 in that price range nowadays.

Me? I'd pay up to $500… but I don't *want* one.

those days are long gone.

Yep, figure $800 and up for a decent Nazi P38. Of course, it ultimately depends on condition; the ‘and up’ part is where the factory code, matching serial numbers on all parts, hopefully matching magazine (or both), included period accessories (holster and more), and provenance (engraved to von Ribbentrop's boy lover), could boost it.

Probably would go for $800 plus at a dealer if it's in good shape with Nazi markings fully intact. They're asking over $600 for the Russian captured ones, mismatched with a lot of the markings gone. There are a couple rare year/maker/features out there that could make it worth a bit more too.
