I have an opportunity to purchase 1,000 pounds of mixed military surplus brass.
There are 9mm and 5.56.
Anybody know what it's worth, anybody want to buy some :)

how bout 25,861.2lbs of mixed fired casings (minimum bid is $1.35lb or $35,000 for the lot)

this lot includes some tank cannon casings artillery casings and small arms casing from 20mm down to 9mm

$1.35 a pound when the scrapyards are only offering a dollar a pound? I think I would pass that one by. As for the original post, were the cases sold to a scrap dealer to be "de-militarized" but somehow fell off the back of a truck? I would be carefull.

Be Careful.
The 9mm is pretty worthless as there is so much commercial 9mm brass out there. Unless you can actually see the brass and sort thru it, most of the 5.56 stuff are blanks which is scrap. Been there & seen it.

Crown Assets sell pallets and triwalls of the stuff regularly. Anyone with an email account can log on and bid. The point about bulk scrap pricing is probably a good baseline for the price. Any reloadable brass in there would bump up the price. Every bit will still need to be sorted.

Here is the killer clause on selling Crown Assets brass casings, taken from a sold lot.

I understand the controls imposed on these assets remain in effect until they are totally destroyed by cutting, crushing, smelting or other means that renders them unusable for their originally intended purpose(s). In the event the assets are destroyed, I shall maintain a record that details the destruction process and who destroyed them for a period of at least five (5) years for audit purposes.

I acknowledge that my failure to adhere to these restrictions may result in criminal prosecution, fines and imprisonment.
