What zero for Benelli/Aimpoint?

Below is the answer I just got from someone who I don’t want to bother asking what they meant by it, with response to my question asking them what zero they recommend I set my Aimpoint Micro T1 at, which is on my Benelli M4:

50 yard then adjust for a 100 yard zero

Um, what does he mean?
 
maybe zero it at 50 yards and figure out what hold over you need for 100? no idea what that person ment but thats what i do with my m4 but thats with the irons...and i only tried it at 100 yards a few times
 
Hahahha. True. No argument there. Anyways. I’ll zero for 50 yds and see what happens. Why not 25 yds though? After all I’m only shooting slugs/buckshot
 
No one else should tell you where you should zero your gun, that is up to you and based off of what distance you shoot at. Try what you want then adjust until your happy with it. Tweak as you see fit
 
As a general rule I zero at what the manufacturer of the ammunition zero's at. For slugs it is 100yards.

The 50, then 100 comment meant, "zero it at 50, then it's easier to zero for 100; less wasted slugs as you should be only adjusting elevation at this point".

As opposed to zeroing for 25 then being harder to guess POI at 100?

I’ll just zero it at 50 and then anything 0-50 should be pretty much bang on when it comes to the Micro T1 red dot.

I used to have this exact setup (BM4 with Micro T1) a couple of years ago, but I forgot what I zeroed it at (25 yds maybe?), and after I sold it I moved on to the next new thing...
