hi there
need some advice with sks, have refurbished tula and while cleaning noticed gas tube, in addition to the 2 drilled holes, has a 8mmx1.5mm notch penetrating tube where the flat spot on bottom of tube was machined too deep/long?
Was wondering how this will affect the cycling, if at all, won't be shooting for a while, have mods in process, wondering if i should source a new one?
thanks in advance

i'd have to wake the wife up to post pics, not right now, however ,the penetration is at where the tube is milled to clear the stock retainer.I have unissued also and no penetration which cycles fine.

The gas tube on 1 of my 49 Tula refurb is like yours, i never shot it yet because its a safe queen but since that notch is behind the 2 vent holes, you wont have anys proplems so no worries. Appear to be a variation in the machining and that's common with SKS's, they were mass produced carbines after all.:)

:agree:
I have 1 of those NcStar gas mount's & I droped the rail and even with the 4 big wholes it work's completly fine except the odd little light cycling issue from time to time.
