What's a better quality pistol? Glock or M&P

I own both, in both 9mm and 40.

I don't know about quality. I would have to examine the records of agencies who had these pistols to decide which was the better made gun.

For me, the Glock has a better stock trigger (slightly better) but the M&P with Apex is outstanding.

The M&P feels better in my hand.

Of 30+ pistols, the M&P is the one that draws from the holster and hits the most accurately, quickly. It is a cheap pistol, lacking character - but for me it works the best.

I've been having fun here, but I guess I'll come clean, over the past 25 or so years I've put 10K or so rounds through Glock pistols, my first Glock was a Gen 1 back when your only choice was 17, or 17L. I've had 17's and 19's through 3 generations (none of them felt good to me BTW), my last was an early Gen 3 G19. For the last 5 or so years I've been shooting an M&P and I've put 40,000 plus rounds down range from one M&P9, 5,000 through an M&P45 and 1500 or so through the first M&P9 I bought. Believe me when I say, there's no quality difference. What is different is the fact that the ergonomics of the Gen 4 Glocks are way better than any preceding Glock, if I was buying today, I'd pretty much flip a coin.

Have shot both and like both. I just recently bought a M&P9. M&P22 is on the way.

The Glock works for me as does the M&P. I find the M&P to be visually a very nice looking firearm. Sort of a lower priced PPQ. Which I also plan on getting and would have if someone hadn't posted about them before Christmas so they sold out when I went to get one.

I'll most likely be picking up a G34 Glock in the future.

That being said if it wasn't for being able to pick up a Glock very inexpensively I would most likely not bother. I think I like the M&P better. It points great, looks great and they shoot very well. As for the trigger. They're diferent. The Glock felt mushy but was easy to shoot. My M&P feels like a 2 stage with grinding at the first stage as if rolling over a spring. I suspect this is the safety deactivation. After you feel the resistence and it has a crisp trigger with no travel. Could be lighter but it's still good and much better than the 12 Lbs 5946 trigger which also has a long pull/travel to it.

I picked up the M&P9 range kit at the Reliable sale for $575. Worth every dollar. 3 mags, bladetech holster, mag holder and a decent universal mag loader. Also managed to get a serial number ending in 007! No complaints so far.

My rule of thumb with polymer guns is Glock for 9mm, M&P for .40, and over $900 is HK.

The M&P has three backstrap options. I've stayed with the medium but did try them all out. It makes a very noticeable difference in how the pistol feels in your hand. The large grip I really didn't like. If that was on I would go towards the Glock as well which fits me decently. Of course the latest gen4 Glocks also offer the changing grip.

Just pointing out that the impression might not be a good reflection of the actual pistol. This goes for gen4 glock as well. The previous models fit for me so I tend to use that as the benchmark. The M&P with the right backstrap for me was better than the pre gen4 glocks.

Personally I want both! Pistols are cheaper to collect than rifles because you don't need 1-2K worth of optics!! There you go that's how you justify it!!

Have a glock and have held and shot an M&P. I also bought a Springfield XDM 5.25 last year that is far and away better to hold and use them the glock or m&p is. That is the choice I've made.

Glock is a solid choice, got a G17 myself but after extensively using my buddies M&P, well hands to S&W here. The ergonomics are truly superior and it's definitively the direction to go. I take you will see more and more manufactures in the future going this route when it comes to ergo's. Springfield XDM series is a solid choice of Poly combat pistols and has similarly well ergonomics.
