What price range would I be looking at for an AR 15 made by Colt? Either a 20" or shorter 16" barrel.

Does barrel length affect the price?

depends on the make.

I bought 2 new 6920s this year. The last was $3k on the EE - maybe 2 months back. I saw dealers listing as high as $3600.00 and selling them. Saw more than one VERY nice 20" AR15 HBARs going around the $2k mark.

I figured $3k for a 6920 in absolutely BNIB condition was very reasonable.

YMMV

What would be the value on an earl (ie: 10 yrs old) 22" barreled precision configured colt? I know of one locally with iron sites, going for $2700 as-new with original plastic case. I was eyeballing it.

Locally you can't get anything made in the USA right now, so all the stores are piecing together junk with mismatched parts, or bringing in from Europe. I fear I have waited too long to get into the AR game.

My brother wanted to make a 6 unit purchase of 6920s in Texas. Cannot get any in any quantity. They are buying anything they can sell at this point. The Obama worry has driven sales through the roof.

Wow..I bought my Sporter approx 9 years ago with 5 thermold mags, 2 5/20 round colt mags, a colt sub caliber kit and 1500 rounds of ammo for $1000.

The difference a decade makes...

Guns surely have made a nice, tidy capital retention scheme - if not investment plan.
