I need a scope for my .308 deer and moose gun, most of the hunting will be bush land in southern/central Ontario. I dont know weither I wanna go 3-9X32 or 3-9X40 for it. Is there good optics out there that compete, if not are better than the standard bushnells found at evrey gun shop?? I see the Trophy and Banner line from Bushnell, are they good or is there better for the money available in Canada?? I wanna spend about $125-$200 Canadian on the scope alone.. What do you think??

This is just my opinion, but you might consider a slightly higher budget to spend on a scope. You get what you pay for, and less expensive scopes tend not to hold their zeros consistently, and are less sharp / bright. If you can afford $200, can you afford somewhere around $300? That would get you a Bushnell Elite 3200, which is a much better scope than the Trophy / Banner line.

Depending on the quality of the scope, one with 40mm objective lens will be a little brighter than one with a 32mm, but the 32mm will be lighter and more compact. I would go with a 40mm scope myself, unless it was going on a compact or sheep rifle.

Shop around and look at some other options. A Burris Fullfield II might be available for around $250, and a maybe even a used Leupold for that price.

Bushnell 3200s sell for right around $200 watch on EE I paid $150 new in the box about a month ago. The 4200s are selling at $300 definately worth the extra $ bought a used one on EE about a month ago for $230 shipped. Keep your eyes open if not in a hurry.
